Julian Day: 2447133.03

11 February 2011

"Sagittarius the Archer" by Artist Andre Dluhos

Today was about self-discovery. And how else to look within, than by starting at the very beginning, my beginning.

My beginning starts on the Julian 2447133.03 Thursday. It is 03 Decembre 1987. After a frigid winter snow storm night, my mother’s water broke precisely at midnight. Now all hype aside, the zodiac is a key, a tool if you will, to delve into the aspects of our psyches. Denoting the gravitational, the vibrational, the energy that surrounds us at our births. Granted, it isn’t iron-clad. It is not one-hundred percent accurate. However, each person can make the choice to believe or not to believe one way or another. Astrology is not a science, it is more of a philosophy. An arte. It is as I said, a tool, designed to divine not only our futures, but who we are as people. Granted, astrology does not take into account the closer, EARTH environments that surround us at birth, nor the parental influences, etc. However, it is meant to be a base, a broad spectrum that shows the truth about human personality. We are complex. We are dynamic. And we may not always seem what we ought to be….

So, after heavy analysis, and many MANY different reports, I have put together a conglomerate Astrology Report for myself. And where better to show-case it than on the interweb? So, allow me to introduce the young Derek as he was, how he is, and as he may become.

Thursday is the Day of Vision, Spiritual Insight and Expansion. On this day I learn more about myself through others. I consider a larger context and my role in the scheme of things, in others’ lives. Thursday is a good day to broaden horizons, study a foreign language or culture, to socialize and have fun with others as well as for religious and political rituals. It is a good day for sports for the camaraderie rather than competition. Thursday’s child “has far to go” — Honorable, expansive, generous, jovial, philosophical and/or extravagant, conceited, hypocritical, sharp-tongued, fanatical.

However when their faith is strong, Sagittarians get along well with little material success.

The Luminaries: Sun and Moon

The state of the solar system at the time of your birth points to self-similar (fractal) qualities within you. But of all the planets, the “lights” – the Sun and Moon – are thought to indicate the main polarity of your being. In psychology, this has been articulated in the concept of complementarity between the conscious and unconscious contents of the mind. The Sun and Moon act as positive and negative poles – an intentional, directing element (Sun), and a suggestible, receptive one (Moon). In a beneficial relationship, the emotional conditioning of the Moon is given a purposive and positive expression by the astrological Sun. This has been called ‘intentional living’. Wherever we allow our consciousness (attention) to rest, that we vitalize.

The Astrological Sun There is only one center to our solar system, and there is only one center to your psyche. The Sun is the great central powerhouse which illuminates us and shows us where we can get the most from life by radiating all that our sun represents. In Jyotish, the astrology of the Hindus, the Sun is known as ‘atma karaka’, or soul indicator, signifying a person’s confidence, authority and power – the ego center of the horoscope. The Sun is our central identity and ‘true self’, in that it is toward this more than anything that we should be moving and developing. Thus, it represents that which we wish to become and those we look up to. It is also our essence, our bliss, and that which we do for the sheer fun of it. The Sun is creativity, original flair, celebration and glory – the quality of output we tend to expect from heros and celebrities. But we are each capable of giving out more than we do – and I don’t mean money. The Sun is about having a purpose large enough to animate the whole of your life and going about it with a tone of appreciation and joie de vivre. Your Sun shows how and where you can shine. Light your fire!

Sun in Sagittarius

Honest, open and candid, you are always out-going and frank, and allow your thoughts be directed toward the future in faith of a good outcome. On the move, you are a traveler of both the world and the mind – theory, philosophy and the larger purposes in life attract you. You prefer grand themes and big gestures – the large canvas and the big brush. The exploratory drive is very strong in you and you are always shooting for a mark beyond yourself. New possibilities excite you, therefore you are very good at sizing up the current situation and seeing how it can be maximised rather than resisted. By aliging your life activity with something bigger than yourself – some cause or concept – you transform ordinary humdrum existence into something nearer the ideal. Sagittarius is nothing if not direct, candid and to the point, for this sign is always concerned with the absolute truth of the subject at hand. Associated with philosophy, outreach and all things boundless, Sagittarian energy is always welcome in politics as well as social and community endeavors where its basic fairness and expansiveness is helpful.

Rising Sign is in 15 Degrees Sagittarius
You are known for being open, frank, outgoing and honest. At times, though, you are also blunt and quite indiscreet. Others have to learn not to take everything you say personally, because you usually do not mean any harm. You appreciate living your life in a straightforward and simple manner — you dislike social niceties and consider them to be hindrances to real communication. You have lots and lots of energy and tend to become quite restless if you feel confined. You demand the freedom to do as you choose — you must be self- directed or you feel trapped and anxious. With your abundant energy, you enjoy being outdoors, and you should be attracted to physical exercise or to those forms of sport which can help you burn off some of that excess energy. Very gregarious, you love to socialize — your innate enthusiasm livens up any gathering.
Sun is in 10 Degrees Sagittarius.
Very fun-loving, spirited and energetic, you have a huge reservoir of physical energy within you that needs to be released. As such, exercise or sports are very important to you. Quite gregarious, you enjoy being with other people, but you tend to avoid emotionally restrictive or intimate relationships. Constantly curious about the broader issues of life, you may at times be quite careless and sloppy about details — you tend to leap to conclusions before all the facts are in. An avid reader, you are totally enthusiastic about any given subject should it interest you. You are known for being idealistic, generous, sociable, cheerful and very positive!
The Astrological Moon The astrological Moon symbolises memory, memes and conditioning – the habitual, instinctive, unconscious side of our nature, and therefore the most predictible. Our interface with the environment – how we react to it – is best indicated by the Moon’s position and the planets it aspects. Because it represents our upbringing and emotional background, the Moon denotes our sense of belonging and well-being (or not) and what we need in order to feel comfortable and content. But all too often the tendency is for the Moon to reflect back the frayed impressions of old hurts and vendettas, thereby wasting precious energy on painful and unproductive distractions of the past. Clearly what is needed is a more aspiring attitude; one in which we are continually banging our cup and demanding that our needs be satisfied! What is your special hunger? What kind of stimulation do you need in order to feel good about yourself? True gratification can be had only by feeding your Moon. The Feast of the Present is spread out around you!

Moon in Taurus

You have stable emotions and tend to form strong attachments to the past, perhaps to the extent of making you resistant to change. You value constancy and material security in all things and possess a good business sense. You are, by nature, very domestic and enjoy comfortable surroundings. Being able to feel in harmony with your environment is very important, as is having a safe and solid base from which to operate.

Moon is in 19 Degrees Taurus.
Warmth, comfort, security and familiar surroundings are necessary for you to feel at ease. Very loving and affectionate, you prefer a steady, patterned way of life. Patient, calm and steadfast, you are not easily upset. Others look to you for support. You tend to be a slow starter and a slow mover — others may try to rush you, but they will never succeed. Emotionally, you are quite stubborn — your attitudes about people and things were firmly set in your youth and will change very little as an adult. You are also very cautious and conservative about spending money. It is not that you are selfish, you just need to feel secure. Beware of a tendency to become overly complacent and too self-satisfied.
Moon Sesquiquadrate Neptune
Lives in the feelings. Inspiring and magnificently compassionate. Strong idealization of the family, past and traditional matters. Most imaginative when it comes to spirituality and psychology. Entrancing to others with an ability to draw them into a world of imagination and dreams. A high floater and full-blown dreamer, complete with built-in psychic abilities and probably given to visions.

Moon Sesquiquadrate Venus
Discriminating, sensual and kind. There is great concern with beauty and comfort, especially in and around the home. An optimistic and charming nature; this is a very favourable feminine combination. Lives for loving relationships and pleasant memories. Excels in the aesthetic talents. Voluptuousness and eroticism are implied.

The Planets: Agents of the Cosmos

The planets of astrology are not just giant balls of rock and gas, but fractal reflections of the different facets of reality – whole self-consistent categories of meaning. They reveal tendencies which are in a continual state of ‘becoming’. But each individual is responsible for developing his or her attributes and actively integrating the planets’ detailed messages. Having had the broad qualities pointed out, you are free to work with or against the cosmic current. But you will only benefit from the universal self-organising process by intentionally and planfully improving on those features as depicted in your birth chart. We only get where we’re going by moving in the right direction. Destiny is a matter of Destination.

The Astrological Mercury Mercury is the articulate messenger – Hermes – master of the networks, change and complexity. He represents mentality: words, thoughts, ideas, communications. But more generally, this is the planet of connections – everything that links and conveys – synchronicity – the magical crossroads at which the observer stands to see the ‘similarity of meaning’ in the converging strands of various causes and effects. This is the meeting place of mind and matter, where logic, wit and reason are brought into play. The power of thought. The power of words. The ancestor of every action is a thought, and how we say something is often more important than what we say. Words trigger attitudes and set up resonances of their own, continuing to do their work even when the attention is elsewhere. Guided by your Mercury, you begin to construct a bridge between yourself and the world, bringing together all the unique circumstances needed to trigger results that none of them could have produced on their own. Mercury shows how you can ‘hijack’ people, places and situations to your best advantage – the way you can go about getting your way.

Mercury in Scorpio

The original Sherlock Holmes, you are able to ferret out information and all kinds of secrets. You are research-oriented and security minded. A shrewd and penetrating mind, you have great psychological instincts and are able to get at the causes beneath the surface of life.

Mercury is in 29 Degrees Scorpio.
You are a born investigator. You are fascinated by secrets and mysteries and unanswered questions of any kind. When you become upset or angry, your emotional reactions are overpowering — reason and logic disappear in an uncontrollable passionate outburst. You tend to keep your thoughts secret and bottled up and this makes others regard you with suspicion. It is not that you are trying purposely to be evasive, it is just that you would rather not deal with the explosions and hassles that often occur when you reveal your true feelings and opinions. Your sense of humor tends toward sarcasm and irony.

The Astrological Venus Venus is harmony. She symbolises our relationship with all that we meet in the world. When we appraise or appreciate something, whether that be another person or a possession, this is Venus – the sense of love or appreciation we feel. Venus is reciprocity, interaction with others, compromise, reconciliation and balance. She is also our need for approval, and how we seek it – ‘we’ consciousness and union. This ability to get-it-together is also tested by our talent (or lack of) for developing a sense of wealth and affluence. Venus is what we love, feel comfortable with and what appeals to us. And she has much to do with desires, luxuries and their enjoyment. She is also about making oneself enjoyable. Thus her energy is what has been called the ‘courtier spirit’, which means being agreeable and smoothing the path. In many ways she shows us how we can get the most, both relationship-wise and financially, out of life. As the planet of balance and resources, Venus speaks to us about the ways one influences the other; for as any successful businessperson will tell you, you must be willing to spend money in order to make it. This is the lifeblood of commerce – there must be an out-going as well as an in-coming flow of energy. Good relationships require give-and-take, as do all successful enterprises.

Venus in Capricorn

You are in love with whatever’s practical in relationships, but you also want commitment – something that lasts. You appreciate tradition and are conservative in most dealings – your loyalty and sense of propriety make you and excellent ‘business head’. You may tend to be too serious, however, perhaps coming off too much as the ‘cool cucumber’. Benefit comes through planning and being in control.

Venus is in 06 Degrees Capricorn.
You tend to keep your feelings under control — emotions are only released in serious or important situations. You are distrustful of others whose behavior could be judged excessive or immoderate. As such, you prefer to relate only to those who are older than you or to those whose position is such that respect and duty are more important for both of you than passion or emotional response. Be careful, however, of relationships that are merely based on practicality or utility or you will ultimately be lonely.

Venus Conjunct Neptune
You place a high value on your dreams and ideals and don’t consider them otherworldly or impossible. You experience the unity around you — that which joins things together. There is a love of the sea and of whatever solves that which separates us. Mysticism, mythology, poetry, and music are natural. These are all known items to you. People who encounter you may sometimes feel deceived by your remarkable vision, which they enjoy when they are with you but find hard to maintain by themselves. They wish the world were like you say it is.
Venus Sextile Mars
You love to work with younger people and would make a superb teacher or coach. You appreciate a heart-felt approach and are an enthusiast if there ever was one. You understand and encourage emotions, feelings and creativity and find it easy to work in these areas. You value drive and the ability to get things done. Matters of the heart, marriage, and the like are areas where you can help others.
Venus Sextile Pluto
You are very skilled at working with psychology, and the hidden recesses of the mind are, to you, no secret. You would make an excellent psychologist and teacher of this subject. These same skills make it possible for you to work with the public, in politics or wherever handling sensitive or “hot” issues is routine. You value change and transformation and have an almost reckless faith in the life process. You love to be touched at the most personal and vulnerable levels.

The Astrological Mars Mars is the planet of motivation and drive. It is the self-starting impetus, initiative and energy we need to get moving. When we search for the meaning of something, life or whatever, it is Mars that urges us on and keeps us searching. Mars also drives us against things too, as when it sends us into war and combat. Mars looks for the challenge, takes charge and pushes forward with a pioneering spirit. Mars is purposeful, direct and courageous; where our passion is, there we find the planet Mars. Thus it also has to do with ardor and impulses, and often signifies the sex-drive, especially in a man’s chart. Martian energy enjoys becoming involved in the thrust of life – acting promptly on an urge and, within that conviction, creating more trust in its own actions. This is a circular process: The more we trust and act, the more we receive impulses that can be trusted.

Mars in Scorpio

You possess a powerful, persistent drive and are a hard, steady worker. Others may find you deep, with a sense of mission and mystery. You are willing to do work others would not go near, quietly bending things to your will, having it your own way. You have strong sexual energy too, and enjoy getting down to the nitty-gritty.

Mars is in 06 Degrees Scorpio.
Your likes and dislikes are strong and intense, never casual or superficial. You are known for your persistence and willful obsession. Once you have decided on a course of action, you are unstoppable. Your emotional actions tend to be extreme, although you try to keep them muted. You are not quick to anger, you do slow burns. And you tend to release your anger as sarcasm or irony. Beware of your tendency to hold grudges and to be vengeful. When you do fight, or release your internal tensions, you do so body and soul — you become totally passionate and your outbursts are awesome to behold.
Mars Sextile Neptune
You have an ability to work with the imagination, reaching beyond the mundane to the potential beyond. Your enthusiasm for mystical and religious experience makes you an excellent teacher in artistic and creative matters. Your sense of the unity behind things spiritual and psychological is clear and felt by those around you. You are, no doubt, a romantic, at home in the world of dreams and images. You enjoy working in these areas.
Mars Conjunct Pluto
You have a relentless drive to get at the heart of things, whatever is under the surface or behind the scenes. Your relentless pursuit of anything hidden or secret makes you a researcher or investigator bar none. Emotionally you are also hot stuff, rushing into areas and handling subject matter that others would never come near. Vulnerable issues, sensitive areas of the self, and psychology are the first places you head. This amounts to a passion with you. Those around you may find you just too intense to be around. It puts them through a great many changes. Sex drive is very strong and needs outlet.
Mars Semisquare Saturn
You are responsible to the extreme, always taking on obligations and pushing yourself to the limit. You pursue your obligations with much emotion and obvious enthusiasm. You are spartan when it comes to your needs and surroundings. Small and less are beautiful for you. If anything, you try too hard and tend to force things. Others may find your approach too severe. You can be too sober and frugal.

The Astrological Jupiter When it comes to an astrology of success and empowerment, some planets are more important than others simply because of their nature. As the planet of outreach and exploration, Jupiter plays a very important role here. The Hindu word for Jupiter is ‘Guru’ (Teacher), and Jupiter is about having an outlook or belief system – something we can identify with or look forward to. It shows how we search for meaning in our lives, and therefore has much to tell us about our ‘ideal’ vocation. Jupiter is the guiding philosophy which provides us with our sense of direction and shows us how to approach life’s problems. Jupiter is ‘conscience’, ethics, as well as our opinions and how we form them. It represents our speculations about the world and can tell us much about the process of self-discovery. As the ‘lord of opportunity’, prosperity, affluence, and all the benefits we earn through our outgoing-ness and out-giving to others, Jupiter’s position in your chart is instrumental in determining your capacity for optimism and attracting luck. To enhance Jupiter’s benefit in your life, follow the indications of his placement in your chart. In general, by adopting a spread of effort rather than a concentration – by accepting Life’s invitations and maximising what they have to offer – by saying ‘yes’ to the exotic and unfamiliar – we deliberately extend our range of contacts and interests whereby luck can reach us. There is an organic connection between this attitude and the arrival of the good things in life. A note of warning though, you can have too much of a good thing.

Jupiter in Aries

Set your career sights on a field where you can take charge – something challenging and in which you can operate free from restrictions. Because of your ability to follow impulses, you will often be the one who takes the initiative. Always “walking point,” you tend to be a loner; confident, single-minded and focussed. You draw luck into your life by pushing events, by being direct and moving toward clearly defined goals.

Jupiter is in 20 Degrees Aries.
The way that you grow and develop is by being an uncompromising individualist. You have a great need to be yourself and to explore your latent talents and abilities. Do not be afraid to let yourself go and develop self-confidence and pride in your accomplishments. But try not to become so self-centered that you ignore the needs of others. Also, you may have to build up your self-discipline in order to focus your energies properly.
Jupiter Trine Saturn
You are a natural architect and builder, able to use your mind to make decisions in matters of form and function. For you, the goal and the way to get to it are the same thing. You like to build each step and have each decision be an end in itself. Thing s must be done right. You also have great skill with the law, whether man-made or those of nature, and you can put all of this into words. You could well teach others in these areas. You understand how to handle authorities and have a natural gift at sol ving problems.
Jupiter Trine Uranus
You are independent and value freedom and nonconformity. A great problem-solver, you enjoy working out new solutions, trying new things. Your career will be anything but ordinary, and leave it to you to find unusual ways of supporting yourself. You bring a lot of mental skill and understanding to whatever you do, and could teach or help others to take a more independent approach to their life or career. You pursue electronics, computers, and the like.

The Astrological Saturn Saturn is the prince of the material world – the planet of materialisation and incarnation, self-containment and personal distinction. Saturn rules the limitations of the world we live in and so indicates where we are bound to learn self-discipline and duty – whether we like it or not! It is the boundaries around us that make identity possible. As time passes, you slowly but surely crystallise a personal identity, distinct and unique from the others around you, by excluding whatever does not seem compatible with your purpose. Each new day adds to this evolutionary sense of ‘I’, with the object being an increased sense of responsibility. Saturn is said to be the hard taskmaster, the planet that keeps us from getting carried away in one direction or another. And although it seems to limit and undermine, it also defines and clarifies. For it is the process of sedimentation – building layer upon layer with structure and control – whereby we see our ambitions realised. Nothing worthwhile can be accomplished without determination, concentration, persistence, commitment and patience.

Saturn in Sagittarius

There is a lift given to your ambition. The innate coolness and conservatism of Saturn is warmed by the expansive nature of Sagittarius, giving you a philosophical and even inspirational attitude toward your duties and obligations. You also realise that long-term results can be made good only through careful planning.

Saturn is in 22 Degrees Sagittarius.
Basically quite conservative, you respect traditional authority figures and are very thankful and supportive of the laws and institutions which govern your life. You learn and accept new ideas only after having very thoroughly examined them. Ideals and abstract concepts are important to you only if they can be used in some practical fashion. You are so practical and so orderly that you have natural skills in planning, administrating and organizing.
Saturn Conjunct Uranus
You find it difficult to be spontaneous, to get away from routine and do something different. Others see in you a creature of routine. Travel may also be hard for you. It is not easy for you to change or to accept changes. When you do enact a change, it is always at the deepest or core level and affects everything else in your life. Once a change is made, it at once becomes a part of you, solid and immovable. Those near you may feel that you inhibit the proverbial “life of the party.” Code, computer programming, and the like should interest you.

The Astrological Uranus To live a full and satisfying life, you must be vividly yourself. Many of us are afraid to be different, and the pressure to conform can be stifling. But to live creatively is to find your own way, even if this means going against the grain. This urge to free-will and self-authorisation is Uranus, the planet of fierce independence. Surprise can be stimulating – the jab that gets you out of the rut. And if you want to ride the wave of chaos instead of being swallowed by it – if you want to liberate yourself from the disruptions and shocks around you – you must voluntarily keep out of the groove. Realise that change is the only constant phenomenon. In randomness is all potential. Disorder increases possibilties. Chance! Uranus is the reverse of the status quo and always unconventional and heretical: If life is accidental, we are free to give it any point we like. Become Yourself!

Uranus in Sagittarius

You have new philosophical ideas for the future, and new approaches to travel and exploration of all kinds. Long journeys interest you. You may startle others with your direct conversations, always getting right to the nitty-gritty. You enjoy being alone, free and on the move. The original optimist.

Uranus is in 25 Degrees Sagittarius.
You, and most of your peers, have the tendency to think that all ideas, customs and traditions from the past are outmoded and irrelevant. You are attracted to radically new ideas, philosophies and religions that will, hopefully, cause sweeping changes throughout the world.
Uranus Semisquare Pluto
Secrets have a short half-life around you, for you have them out in a wink of an eye. You are brilliant when it comes to insights into the mind, psychology, and motivation — yours or others’. Your intensity is obvious, and some may prefer to keep their distance rather than subject themselves to your laser eye. Nothing is passed over without being turned inside and out. Your analytical powers are superb, and you enjoy finding new avenues of inner growth.

The Astrological Neptune Neptune is the desire and ablility to transcend normal consciousness and everyday waking life – to dream the impossible dream. This ‘divine discontent’ can be the cause of much mischief in itself, for to pursue the Ideal is often to avoid the reality of how things are. But, when it comes to many of the apparently insolvable problems, the Neptunian approach is often the most sensible and practical: Rise above it and get over it! The healthy tendencies of Neptune lie in its ability to see the cosmic humor in almost anything; to laugh at life’s absurdities. And sometimes laughter is the only genuine response – the last great act of defiance! This is the art of ‘sitting loose to life’, which means developing a less resisting, more surrendered attitude in which we expect the best of all unfulfilled possibilities and potentials – and never stop dreaming!

Neptune in Capricorn

The practical is the ideal. Form follows function. You have a dream of being in control – the puppetmaster. You are very interested in tradition and tend to be dignified and conservative. You believe in an orderly society led by benevolent monarchs – those who can see what to do.

Neptune is in 06 Degrees Capricorn.
You, and your entire generation, will idealize work, practicality and the ability to attain reasonable goals. But, because you will also stress the need to be selfless and giving, you may find it difficult to attain your goals unless you have lowered your expectations on all fronts.

Neptune Sextile Pluto
You work with real imagination and understanding in areas of the mind that are the most personal or private — depth psychology. You are like a midwife of the spirit, assisting at the birth of each individual going through a spiritual or re-birth process. You accept the natural process of birth, spiritual and physical, and have dedicated yourself to helping it along. You would make a great teacher in these areas.

The Astrological Pluto Pluto is the planet of profound change, starting deep within you and moving toward the surface, often touching upon the most sensitive areas. It’s about waking up to the ‘hidden things’, and doing so by reaching an intensity of awareness whereby, once touched, you have no choice but to change and grow. Pluto is the process of becoming fully conscious of (revealing) what has been happening all around you, even though you may not have been aware of it. Like sex and death – you get to a certain stage in your development and suddenly you realise what’s going on. Pluto is first-hand sensitive experiences and times of complete identification with a person, feeling or idea. This is very intense stuff, and to touch upon this material is to go through permanent change and transformation – inner alchemy.

Pluto in Scorpio

You tear through appearances in an effort to get beneath, behind, and at the heart or essence. You may find psychology, initiation, mysticism and the occult of great interest. Intense personal change and inner growth are lifelong habits.

Pluto is in 11 Degrees Scorpio.
For your entire generation, this is a period of intense research and discovery in areas that were heretofore considered mysterious, remote or taboo. The root causes for many complex occurrences will be unearthed due to the intensity and thoroughness of the search.

N. Node is in 29 Degrees Pisces.

You’re attracted to others who need your assistance. You seem to go out of your way to form relationships with those who are weak, sick, injured, addicted or troubled in some way or other. At your best you can indeed provide the relief that others need. But at times you can be victimized by those who would prey on your good nature and take advantage of you. This can lead to all sorts of negative situations — make sure that those you assist are truly worthy of your time, energy and commitment. A little enlightened self-protectiveness on your part can make your life work much, much smoother!

House Activity and Emphasis

Astrologers agree that astrology is first of all the study of the angular relationships between the planets themselves. But this planetary framework is seen to shift and modify itself as the planets slowly move across the backdrop of the signs, the so-called ‘fixed stars’ which make up the zodiac. As the earth turns daily on its axis, the planets and signs appear to move across our field of vision through what astrologers have termed ‘houses’. The sun rises at dawn and can be seen on the eastern horizon, or first house cusp, or ascendant. It reaches ‘midheaven’ at noon, and sinks below the western horizon at the descendant.

Like the twelve signs of the zodiac, the twelve houses of the horoscope can be viewed as stages in a complete cycle: From the initial thrust of Aries and the first house, to the maximum entropy symbolised in Pisces and the 12th house. They provide clues as to which areas of your life can be given special attention and used depending on the signs and planets residing there. Here is an analysis of the house activity in your chart based on sign and planet emphasis. As you read along, keep in mind that each house represents a department of life, and the sign falling on each house cusp indicates the mode of action applied to the affairs of that house. In other words, the sign on each house cusp, along with any planet(s) contained therein, shows how one deals with the conditions of that house.

The First House The first house, also called the ascendant or rising sign, is a dharma house and connected with motivation and our approach to life. It also has to do with how we come across to others, thus our appearance and how we make a first impression. The ascendant is the essential stuff that bubbles up in us spontaneously – what is obvious to others as our trademark look or approach. The first house shows our ability to be recognised, how we make a directed effort, and how we exert our will. Cultivate the strategies of this part of your chart to move forward in life.   Sagittarius on the 1st House Cusp: Sagittarius is nothing if not direct, candid, and to the point, for this sign is always concerned with the absolute truth of the subject at hand. Associated with philosophy, outreach and all things boundless, Sagittarian energy is always welcome in politics as well as social and community endeavors where its basic fairness and expansiveness is helpful. Venus in the 1st House: You value a good appearance — how people present themselves or come on. You value the personal approach and are very discriminating personally when it comes to matters of taste and art. Saturn in the 1st House: You are very conservative when it comes to your personal appearance and communications with others. You are impartial and don’t play favorites or get overly personal. You probably don’t waste words. Uranus in the 1st House: A tendency to be eccentric and unconventional in appearance and mannerisms. Perhaps your approach to life — the way you come on — is unusual or different. You may be spontaneous, witty, and unpredictable. Neptune in the 1st House: You are a real charmer — able to enchant others and bring them under your spell. You manage to communicate an almost mystical sense to a group. Your ideals and ability to see the whole picture are obvious to all who come to know you.

The Second House The second house is connected with matters of wealth; how we respond to, enjoy and get in harmony with our surroundings. This is how we hold or acquire things (possessions, material goods, money, and other resources), and how we gain material support and sustenance. The second house refers to how we secure ourselves, how we make a firm foundation, as well as the kind of response we get from life and those around us. Therefore it has much to say about our material rewards. Capricorn on the 2nd House Cusp
Capricorn is the business head of the zodiac, for it is the very opposite of the emotional Cancer. Given to clear ambition and practical insight and vision, this sign always takes a distanced perspective and a cool appraisal. Deliberate and painstaking, sometimes to the point of austerity, Capricorn loves work and the hard-earned results. Status and material reward are very important.

The Third House The third house shows how we make connections and communicate with the world. This is where we draw parallels, make comparisons, and sort through it all. A very mental house, it is concerned with finding, gathering, all manner of questioning, articulation and conversation. In short, it symbolises the functions of the rational mind – linking observations and ideas, and using them to our advantage.   Pisces on the 3rd House Cusp: Pisces energy runs deep and toward the mystical — whatever transcends the everyday world. This sign is understanding, patient and compassionate. Super-sensitive, it tends to absorb it’s surroundings like a sponge. The sign is very trusting, accepting and giving of itself for the sake of more important issues. It loves free-ranging activities which allow for some imaginative scope.

The Fourth House The fourth house is a very emotional house, concerned with matters of comfort and security. Here is how we create the right conditions, the matrix or womb, in which our desires can flourish; the climate necessary for things to grow. It’s about receptivity, nurturing and all the self-protective measures we take to ensure a secure base of operations. This is why the fourth house is related to the mothers, all ‘mothering’ functions, domestic issues and feeling ‘at home’.   Aries on the 4th House Cusp: Aries is the sign of pioneers, leaders and ‘firsts’. It is impulsive, assertive and spontaneous. It tends to act first, only thinking about what it may have done later. Rushing in where others fear to tread, Aries energy is attention-getting and always provokes a response from the surroundings and from others. It takes decisive action and loves self-reliance.   Jupiter in the 4th House: Your career may be built on your search for roots and security. You find yourself through home and family (all things domestic), and it would be excellent if you could somehow make your living in these areas.

The Fifth House The fifth house, another dharma or ‘life purpose’ house, has to do with creativity and warm out-going self-expression. Here is where we find our originality and flair, enthusiasm, and even pride in ourselves, building confidence and self-esteem. This is the life area of personal sovereignty, where we begin to recognize and appreciate our own dynamic and playful nature. All forms of creative expression (including love affairs and offspring) are connected with this house.   Taurus on the 5th House Cusp: Taurus is about drawing on the bounty of the earth, and seeking material security and physical safety there. It is the on-going, enduring, unchanging and preserving element. Hightened sensory input is also important, for it is the mission of this sign to not only find a sense of place within the material realm, but to enjoy it to the fullest, becoming physically aware of, and bonding with the environment.   Moon in the 5th House: You are at your most expressive when urged on by a group or in an environment that you feel is supportive. You may enjoy group sports or working with children or animals. Creativity and its expression are very important in your life.

The Sixth House The sixth house is the house of physical efficiency. Here we separate the wheat from the chaff; get a sense for what is useful, what is not, and make the best of it. This is the life stage of ‘apprenticeship’, where we make a connection between mind and matter, adapt ourselves to a situation and then seek to improve upon it. Hence the connection of the sixth house with routine; ‘practice makes perfect’. The sixth house shows how well we handle the details of life – our ability to solve problems and get our way.   Taurus on the 6th House Cusp
Taurus is about drawing on the bounty of the earth, and seeking material security and physical safety there. It is the on-going, enduring, unchanging and preserving element. Hightened sensory input is also important, for it is the mission of this sign to not only find a sense of place within the material realm, but to enjoy it to the fullest, becoming physically aware of, and bonding with the environment.

The Seventh House The seventh house, the descendant – opposite of the ascendant – is connected with partnerships, relationships and ‘significant others’. Here is where we learn to strike a balance – the art of give and take. All that carries us beyond our personal self (and into an awareness of contradictory or complementary points of view) is symbolised by the seventh house. This is where we respond to the personal needs of others. Therefore marriage and union (yoga) are indicated by this house, as well as one’s ability to respond to a marriage partner.   Gemini on the 7th House Cusp: Gemini is concerned with connections, communication and logic — voice, thoughts, writing, and rational mental processes in general. It is also concerned with making comparisons, ‘twins’ and duplications of all kinds. Gemini is the communicator, the gossip of the zodiac, the collector of trivia. Gemini energy is unattached, independent, very inquisitive and changable.

The Eighth House The eighth house is the house of first-hand transformative experiences and situations – those areas of life that we may not care to face, but we must face sooner or later… the so-called ‘inevitables’ of life, such as death and taxes. The eighth is also concerned with catharsis; the getting rid of excess parts of ourselves that we no longer need. This house covers initiations of all kinds, as well as activities where we find ourselves transformed toward a more integral position. Thus it also covers any jointly held resources, their problems and their benefits. Cancer on the 8th House Cusp: Cancer is the mother of the zodiac, always making a home, protecting and providing a foundation for others. A sensitive sign where feelings and real experience count more than cold logic, it doesn’t get any more physical and emotional than this. Cancer energy is always nurturing, sensitive, tender and moody. It feeds on emotional comforts, and often has a strong attachment to the past and ancestry.

The Ninth House The ninth house shows where we are willing to go beyond our everyday experience in search of meaning. Traditionally the house of ‘long journeys’, the ninth house is where we take journeys both of the body and the mind. Philosophy, beliefs, speculation, opinions and how we form them all belong to this house. Any time we reach out, explore new territory, or align our activities with something bigger, we are operating in the realm of the ninth house. Along with Jupiter’s position, here is where we can attract luck by keeping open and receptive to opportunities.   Virgo on the 9th House Cusp: Virgo energy is analytical and precise, always separating out what is worthwhile and worth supporting from that which is outmoded and of no further use. A mental earth sign, here the mind takes control over matter. This is the sign of ‘ways and means’, implementation, instrumentation, physical effectiveness and efficiency. Virgo energy is always facilitating, often caring more for others than for itself.

The Tenth House The tenth house, commonly called the midheaven, is the house of success and glory, practical vision and achieving a public distinction. Therefore one’s reputation and career are often connected with this house. The sign on the tenth house cusp, as well as any planets located therein, show how we can strive to be a benefit to – as well as how we can benefit from – society. The tenth house is about having a goal in life and the self-determination to reach it. Here is how we can ‘live our calling’ and become self-piloting individuals.   Libra on the 10th House Cusp: Libra energy is always responsive and conciliating, assuming the appropriate reaction or delicately-weighted strategic response to any question or statement. What is sometimes seen as two-faced is only Libra’s facility at responding to each in kind, giving both sides equal consideration. This is certainly the social sign, par excellence. Impersonal and impartial, this sign doles out only what is demanded – nothing overdone, but nothing neglected.   Mars in the 10th House: You are driven to manage and control things. An urge to organize and be practical amounts to a minor obsession. Your career motivation is constant and relentless.

The Eleventh House The eleventh house is where we put our visions and dreams to work for others. The most future-oriented of the houses, the eleventh shows our hopes and dreams, and the opportunities we may have to reach them; how we can turn our dreams into reality. Therefore this house has always been connected with altruistic and humanitarian goals, as well as having the self-authorisation to set them in motion. Inventive and unusual, eleventh house activities often break from conformity, establishing new and unprecedented states of being.   Scorpio on the 11th House Cusp: Scorpio is intense, passionate, and very personal. It rushes past superficialities and right to the heart of any matter. A loyal friend but a fanatic foe, this sign does well in politics and all areas where someone who dares is rewarded. Associated with sexual energy, Scorpio loves to get involved, going down deeper, coming up dirtier, and laying bare anything that lies hidden there.   Pluto in the 11th House: Your burning zeal for the ideal world and your need to be part of a group of like-minded souls are major factors in your makeup. You learn and grow through your efforts to help others and to make your inner vision into a reality.

The Twelfth House The twelfth house is where consciousness dawns – the house of the rising Sun. This is the indeterminate state – the chaos before the new impulse – where all is yet unfulfilled potentialities. Traditionally this is the house of ‘sacrifice’, and is often connected with prisons, betrayal and self-undoing. Although we can choose to become trapped and frustrated by the many obstructions to attaining our dreams, we can also choose to reach outward and upward to a more fulfilled state, transcending the usual down-dragging conditions and rising above difficulties – thus establishing a life nearer our ideal. Here in the twelfth house we have the capacity to attain liberation by using our visionary scope and working creatively with life’s intangibles – the power of imagination!   Scorpio on the 12th House Cusp: Scorpio is intense, passionate, and very personal. Sun in the 12th House: You naturally are a giving person, sacrificing your own interests for the sake of an inner vision — what you feel is right. A born psychologist, you may find yourself counseling and caring for the mental needs of others. Mercury in the 12th House: Your mind is naturally interested in all that is psychological and beneath the surface of things. Ideas of self-sacrifice and compassion — how to serve and help others — are what you tend to think about.

Lastly, there is no ‘one and only’ reading of the birth chart. The symbols of your horoscope change as your life changes – they mean one thing in the life of a youngster, and quite another in middle age. The mystery of the astrological symbols, and part of their beauty, is that they are flexible enough to be relevant and fixed enough to be meaningful, allowing you to approach your horoscope again and again with questions about past, present and future concerns.

Rememberings of a dream long ago.,,

9 February 2011

Inspired by a dream & a song a year in the past.

REUTERS/Arko Datta

Send me away on a boat of spices &herbs,
floating away with the perfume of incense.
A sailing pyre of lament and hope for the future.
The realms diverge and converge on the ocean waves.
Will you send me away?
Into the depths of the white light?
Into the warmest lands of glaciers and
coldest worlds of desert? I’m sailing
away into the other-realms, yearning
for so much more than this
everyday monotony..

Betham and Nugent filled my mind most of the time.
Shakespeare on others, on  the more drunken nights
But know that my words were always meant to be read
By the light of the moon and by the scent of the sea.
Sailing away, I salute the ancients, the old and young.
My fire burns always, the Light of the Way.
Follow the spark of Love-

The waves rock me to and fro,
Given enough time I would recite
complete works, of artes past.
So, send me away
Away, on a bed of herbs & spices.
Let the incense pierce the veil, may the Light
that is my Life fill your eyes.
If you bury me upon the ocean waves, a mummified druid-
Dreamer and Shaman, healer of the new.
Visionary. Optimist. Will you listen to the words?
The drum beat of the dirges?
Will you feel the ebb and flow,
If I wear my shroud and you your tuxedo?

I’ve had enough moments to know,
To know what all these Lives and times amount to.
In the end everything comes together in a beautiful mess of reality,
Our realities, into the mists of the Otherworlds,
Our worlds.

So send me into our world,
On a bed of herbs & spices,
Smooring myself with flowers of Light,
Flowers of Life,
Flowers of Love.
Sending out ripples of destiny on the sea of Fate.

If I die send me away, on a bed of herbs and spices:
On a pyre of Love poems.

Do you have coin for the boatman?
To part the Mists and send me Home.

Jack Frost, A Beginning of a Poem to Be

17 December 2010

My hair is frosted with crystalline wonder,
my lips ruby as holly berries.
Eyes brighter than a star,
and a heart warmer with jolly laughter.
My mind awakens to the smell of snowflakes..
grasping the mistletoe, i paint in the light.
My day is just begun..

Le Beaujolais nouveau est arrivé!

18 November 2010

“What is the definition of a good wine? It should start and end with a smile.” ~William Sokolin quotes

Today, hundreds of thousands of people will become quite intoxicated.

As of midnight this morning, the newest vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau (Premeur) has been released and therefore legally allowed to be drunk. Every year on the third Thursday of November there is a celebration. A fast paced game of which wine producers can deliver in hopes of seeing who will be first to be had. These purple-pink, fruit-forward young wines from eastern France are made from either a whole selection of all the Gamay grapes in Beaujolias, or the Cru Village Beaujolais’ which are a selection of only the best villages in that area. Beaujolais is close to the Burgundy appellation and is closest to Lyon. It is the most popular vin de primeur, fermented for just a few weeks, not allowing the skins to really saturate the wine, thus: the pretty light garnet colouring. The aromas vary greatly, however, there are always floral, musty, red fruits that often smell and taste as if they were candied. This is the perfect wine for someone who likes White Zinfandel looking to be introduced into the Art of Wine drinking. It is as “white” as it gets with red wines (blushes/roses excluded) due to the short amount of time the grapes ferment with the skins.

Beaujolais Nouveau is intended for immediate drinking, and in general should not be kept for more than a year. However, ideally you should leave it for a few weeks to recover from the effects of bottle-shock – and in the Northern Hemisphere (it is said) the weather is more suited to Beaujolais drinking in Spring than in the chill of November. But, this rather misses the point of Beaujolais Nouveau’s “immediacy”, and patient drinkers can buy standard Beaujolais AOC wines released the following year at lower prices without the Nouveau hype. Thus, I would suggest drinking to celebrate the new 2010 Beaujolais’ as a toast& 2010 tasting, then ending with ones from LAST year: 2009. The wines show definite variation between vintages, and offer your palette a hint of intrigue.

So enjoy, sip, slurp, swirl, aerate, and savour those sensuous French wines which give quite the indicator that 2010 wines will be FANTASTIC!

*Bon Beaujolais Nouveau everyone!

Namaste& cheers 😀

11 November 2010

Im only one voice in a million, but you aint taking that from me,
‘cuz when it all boils down, At the end of the day, It’s what you do and say
That makes you who you are, Makes you think about it,
Think about it, Doesn’t it
Sometimes all it takes is one voice..

What is it about these moments in our lives where we find ourselves stuttering for voice, gasping for air? These moments where we feel completely helpless, voiceless. We all share this moment. Whether you are young or old, we all feel bleak. The singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield has once again Stripped down the inner being of our crushing souls, and allowed an exit, a highway where our inner heartbreak can be heard.Oftentimes, I find myself compelled by song lyrics to write. To grasp at that inspiration and go with it. It is how I get MY inner voice to speak. What do you do?

Do you paint? Cook? Are you compelled to Murder?

It is never easy this life we have. But it is a LIFE. So: LIVE. No need for pointless mistakes that should never have happened to begin with. Take control of YOUR life, my friends. Because at the end of that good-night, you may just find yourself riding in the back seat of a moving vehicle, clenching your best friend in hopes that this nightmare that has just unfolded, has indeed become a reality, praying to the gods that you will get home safely.

So speak your Voice.

Become a conduit, strip yourself down to your bare self: your marrow and BELIEVE. Believe that you have that ability to sing outward and scream, standing up for all that you are. Every beautiful cell of your soul. Sing: “You ‘aint taking that away from me!” Because at the end of the day, that is all that matters: your Life. I hope you all can take this moment and really listen to the lyrics as it is playing.

It is your turn to be free.

I am inspired: the night sings to me as if i were once deaf to the song of life. it is awakened and the banshee weeps. It is this moment. This unending divine moment: where the young can love. Where life is but a transcendence of time and dream mixes with reality. Where I am free. (c) 10 November 2010

happy guy fawkes day,,.

4 November 2010

Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot… But what of the man? I know his name was Guy Fawkes and I know, in 1605, he attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. But who was he really? What was he like? We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten, but 400 years later, an idea can still change the world. I’ve witnessed first hand the power of ideas, I’ve seen people kill in the name of them, and die defending them… but you cannot kiss an idea, cannot touch it, or hold it… ideas do not bleed, they do not feel pain, they do not love… And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man… A man that made me remember the Fifth of November. A man that I will never forget.~ Evey.

Tomorrow will be Guy Fawkes Day in Britain. A day of mischief and a day of bonfires. Guy Fawkes Day is a day to commemorate the failed assassination of King James I, by the Gunpowder Plot, which attempted to stop the Protestant power and return Britain to her former Catholic “grace.”

I have always assumed Guy Fawkes as a man of high regard. He had an impressive military career in the 80 years War. He was known as a skilled thinker and one who had quick whit. I have always thought of him as someone to look up to, thinking that he was trying to stop the tyranny of a corrupt system. However, James I was, by some thought( as I do) a homosexual with a repore for forgiveness. He pardoned most of the women and men convicted of witchcraft after concluded that much of the so called “evidence” was indeed fraudulent. He ended England’s longstanding war with Spain, who with a maybe “pawky” sense of humour thought scholarship was his true vocation. He was a man of peace.Or was he?Who was Guy Fawkes? Really?

We never truly know the truth of our pasts. The complete truths. We only know what is given us. What is read verbatim. What we memorize and then ultimately forget. Because what is the past? But only to be re-written. Re-lived. Re-examined?

So now you can see why I am saddened. My hero is fast gone: yet re-imagined, in the form of V. V for Vendetta.

This cinema work of art is in a way a homage to the horrors of what can and do happen. How societies fall to such needless terranies that freeze people in their tracks. Where their rights are limited. Where some citizens may be considered second-kind, or even worse Untouchables. We live in a reckless world, where the powerful are mighty, however stupid and bigoted they are, are mighty because we put them there. We can always look back and say that was a bad choice in government. But when our governments force us. When they suppress us. When they shove our faces into the sand and put a bullet in our bodies. We are anything but hopeless.

We are the Human Party. The political minds behind the minds of true change. It is made-up party. It is the party Other. It doesnt exist, only but in our souls. It is what guides us, guides us with what is acceptable, and what needs to be over turned, and dismantled. Governments were designed to change. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. It all depends on your view-point. And it takes more effort to step back and say that perhaps what I feel is good for the country isnt necessarily the same thing what someone else thinks. But as long as there is a common connection. A connection for the love of mankind. for the peace of free will. For the ability of self-expression (and exploration). Then THIS is a TRUE government, and is a place to call HOME.

So where ever you maybe. Perhaps you do not see this because your governments block such articles from your search engines. But maybe, just maybe youve stumbled upon a good backdoor. A secret entrance to the rest of world, I can only say welcome. Welcome, and hurry and get your VISA/Greencard. Because life is too short to live your lives in fear. Life is too short to live your lives in terror. Life is too short for genocide. It is too short for child-armies. It is too short to be killed for loving whomever you wish to love. It is too short for political corruption. It is too short to listen to demagogy and propaganda. It is too short for rights restrictions. It is FAR TOO SHORT, to not LIVE a life WORTH LIVING…

Here is one of my favourite monologues from the movie V for Vendetta. It is my Valarie, who was imprisioned and subsequently is killed. I hope it gives you some solace. Some peace, some Love. Enjoy.

“I know there’s no way I can convince you this is not one of their tricks, but I don’t care. I am me. My name is Valerie. I don’t think I’ll live much longer and I wanted to tell someone about my life. This is the only autobiography that I w…ill ever write and, God, I’m writing it on toilet paper. I was born in Nottingham in 1985. I don’t remember much of those early years, but I do remember the rain. My grandmother owned a farm in Tottle Brook and she used to tell me that God was in the rain. I passed my Eleven Plus and went to girls’ grammar. It was at school that I met my first girlfriend. Her name was Sarah. It was her wrists, they were beautiful. I thought we would love each other for ever. I remember our teacher telling us that it was an adolescent phase that people outgrew. Sarah did. I didn’t.
In 2002, I fell in love with a girl named Christina. That year I came out to my parents. I couldn’t have done it without Chris holding my hand. My father wouldn’t look at me. He told me to go and never come back. My mother said nothing. But I’d only told them the truth. Was that so selfish? Our integrity sells for so little, but it is all we really have. It is the very last inch of us, but within that inch we are free.
I’d always known what I wanted to do with my life, and in 2015 I starred in my first film, The Salt Flats. It was the most important role of my life, not because of my career, but because that was how I met Ruth. The first time we kissed, I knew I never wanted to kiss any other lips but hers again. We moved to a small flat in London together. She grew Scarlet Carsons for me in our window box, and our place always smelt of roses. Those were the best years of my life. But America’s war grew worse and worse, and eventually came to London. After that, there were no roses anymore, not for anyone. I remember how the meaning of words began to change; how unfamiliar words like “collateral” and “rendition” became frightening, while things like “Norsefire” and the “Articles of Allegiance” became powerful. I remember how “different” became dangerous. I still don’t understand it, why they hate us so much.
They took Ruth while she was out buying food. I’ve never cried so hard in my life. It wasn’t long till they came for me. It seems strange that my life should end in such a terrible place, but for three years I had roses and apologized to no-one. I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch but one. An inch – it is small and it is fragile, and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us. I hope that, whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope that the world turns and that things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. Valerie.”

3 November 2010

My adoptive cat "Miss" having some sunlit fun with the Fae..

Catnap (c) 3 November 2010

Laying on the outstretched rug, sun lighting me. Warming me.
I lick my lips, then my fingers.
Enjoying the daily routine.
I yawn, and I readjust.
I flop on my side, and begin licking some more.
It is a process.
A ritual. With my coarse tongue, I taste my sweat and wonder..
I smell the air and just breathe. In and out.
In and out.
The Sun warms me to my core. I stretch again,
Extending all my body, and I feel completely content.
Watching the dust float
Beautifully in the air, moving specs of dust.
The life force of our lives. Everything is Dust.
It glows and shimmers, its not just gray and dirt. I play
At it with my toes,
My arms batting at them:
The Faeries. They have
Come to join in the amusement.
We dance in the sparkling-ness, the dust.
The Sun’s rays playing
At our heels.
After our dance, we lay
Again, and see. Our irises:
Contracting, our pigments growing.
Our eyes on fire, aflame, ignited
By the light.
We stretch out one last time, and begin
To purr.
I just do enjoy my cat-naps in the Sun.
