Awakening by Joanna Powell Colbert
With this card, we awaken to a higher level of consciousness, both on a personal level and on a planetary one. We are called to open our hearts to Spirit, to live in a more meaningful way, and to participate in the life of our communities. We “think globally and act locally” and are aware of the dakinis, angels and bodhisattvas that aid us behind the scenes as we work to heal the planet.
In this image, we see a young man opening up to the life of the Spirit. He has emerged from the darkness of the tomb/womb of Newgrange and is now following the spiral path of the devotee. The compassionate gaze of Kwan Yin, Goddess of Mercy, smiles down upon him. Cranes of peace fly overhead. We stand together in circle, between the earth and the heavens, holding sacred space where all things are possible. Magic happens, the earth is healed, and so are we.
Blessed be.
This is how Joanna has described her card of Awakening, and the symbology could not be more profound. This card jumped out at me today, and I as the Seeker can only smile at Kwan Yin’s suggestion. I devout myself everyday to awakening my self. My senses. And my mind. But it seems as if all that is around me is suffocating me. I have a feeling that this awakening will only be able to happen once I escape for a bit from the city and get to the moving waters. Perchance I will randevous this week to the beach at Grafton Park, or maybe Ill just pull a Thelma and Louise and just GO! Roadtrip anybody?
